"Places To Go" - Shinobi Ninja

"Places To Go" - Shinobi Ninja

Not new new music (but new to me - tipped in by a bot marshalled singer @EdaraBabyG), and this somewhat low-key vid barely scratches the surface of what these Brooklyn types actually do... the album "Bless Up" has hip hop bits, rock bits, acoustical bits, synth pop bits, dub reggae bits... sort of reminds me of "Times Up" era Living Colour in that regard.

Bless Up / Time's Up - coinky-dink? Also, that eyepatch is creepy.

Anyway, go listen. I'm particularly fond of "Bending Spoons".

They're on Twitter at @ShinobiNinja and the Facebook at ShinobiNinjaMusic.

Previously:

"Confirmation" - Westerman
Soothing, synthy pop ballad that completely refuses to go where you think it will.

"Gucci Gucci" - The Homesick
There is a special place in my heart and a circle of Hell* specifically reserved for people who write pop tunes in 7/4. Trippy Dutch quasi-psychadelic goodness.

"Ouverture." - The Limiñanas
Can it still be krautrock if it's French?

"PYNK (feat. Grimes)" - Janelle Monáe
You know what? A world without Prince is (just about) bearable when it contains Janelle Monáe, and unlike the recent "Make Me Feel" this is pure scratchy catchy electropop goodness courtesy of Grimes.

"Polygraph Eyes" - YUNGBLUD
Not everyone can write a catchy pop song about shitty male behaviour.

"Honesty (Feat. Felp)" - Zerolex
I mean, there's out.... and there's OUT. Title track from Zerolex's new EP is the unashamedly, gorgeously the latter.

"Holding Out" - Adrian Underhill
This tune lives in the Dirty Projectors/Merz intersection, which is rarified space.
